Frequently Asked Questions

  • All three professionals care for foot health, but their training and scope of practice differ slightly.

    • Foot Health Practitioners (FHPs) provide routine foot care such as nail cutting, corn and callus removal, thickened nail reduction, and general advice to maintain healthy feet. We focus on keeping your feet comfortable, preventing common problems, and promoting good foot health.

    • Chiropodists and Podiatrists are both protected titles for practitioners who have completed a degree-level qualification and are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). They can diagnose and treat more complex or surgical foot conditions.

As a qualified Foot Health Practitioner, I provide safe, professional, and effective care for a wide range of everyday foot concerns. For many people, regular visits to a Foot Health Practitioner are all that’s needed to maintain healthy, comfortable feet.

  • At your first visit, we’ll begin with a short consultation to discuss your foot health and any concerns you may have. I’ll take note of any long-term medical conditions or medication you’re taking, to ensure that all treatments are carried out safely and in line with your health needs.
A full foot assessment will follow, and I’ll provide the appropriate treatment, such as nail trimming, hard skin removal, or advice on managing specific issues.
Appointments are relaxed, friendly, and unhurried, ensuring you feel comfortable and cared for throughout.

  • You don’t need to bring much. Just clean feet, free of any nail polish and any relevant medical information (for example, if you have diabetes or circulation problems). If you’re taking regular medication, please bring a list along so we can provide the best possible care.

  • Most appointments last around 30–45 minutes, depending on the treatment required. Your first visit may take a little longer so we can carry out a full assessment and get to know your feet.

  • No. Treatments are gentle and designed to make your feet more comfortable. If you have sensitive feet or a particular concern, just let us know and we’ll make sure you’re fully at ease throughout your appointment.

  • Most people benefit from a visit every 6–8 weeks, but this can vary depending on your individual needs. Regular appointments help keep your feet in good condition and prevent minor issues from becoming painful problems.

  • Yes! I’m a qualified Foot Health Practitioner with a Diploma in Foot Health from The SMAE Institute, and I’m fully insured to provide professional foot care treatments. I also hold an enhanced DBS check. Your safety and comfort are always my top priorities.

  • Absolutely.
Regular foot care is especially important for people with diabetes, as reduced sensation and circulation can increase the risk of complications. We provide gentle, thorough treatments and use specialist instruments to ensure safe and effective care.

  • Comfortable clothing and shoes that are easy to remove are best. This helps us access your feet easily and ensures you’re comfortable throughout your treatment.

  • We’ll always offer personalised foot care advice at each visit, but general tips include:

    • Keep feet clean and dry

    • Moisturise daily (but avoid between the toes)

    • Wear well-fitting shoes (wider fitting and/or deeper toe box if required)

    • Trim nails straight across (if you’re able to do so safely)

Regular professional care helps you maintain healthy feet year-round.
